Linehan URA Funding Match

The Linehan Artist Scholars Program supports research and provides up to eight funding matches to scholars whose Undergraduate Research Award (URA) proposals are awarded. The funding match is up to $1,500. Linehan match funding may be used to cover various aspects of the URA research budget, such as travel, accommodation, tuition fees, meals, but not the purchase of electronic devices and software.

Eligible Linehan Scholars:

  • The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.250.

To complete the Linehan URA Funding Match Form, you must:

  1. Have completed your URA proposal, as the form required you to upload your submitted proposal
  2. Confirm you have discussed and sought advice from your URA department mentor.

Important:

  • The form asks you to clearly outline why you are applying for the Linehan URA funding match.
  • The form requires confirmation of parents/guardians’ permission if your URA proposal involves domestic or international travel.
  • The form asks you to upload a complete W-9 form

To apply:

  1. Log in to our Linehan Blackboard Organization
  2. Go to “Spring Resources”
  3. Click on the Linehan URA Funding Match form link

Scholars who have applied will receive a funding match confirmation no later than 10 days after the URA deadline. Scholars must forward their official URA award notification to linehan@umbc.edu.

Recipients of the Linehan URA Funding Match are required to fulfill all URA obligations, including completing the zero-credit fall PRAC course, submitting an abstract for the Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement Day (URCAD), and presenting at URCAD. Failure to meet these requirements—or the unauthorized use of funds for electronic devices and software—constitutes non-compliance. In such cases, scholars agree to reimburse the program for the full amount of the funding match.
